David was born September 11, 1957, in Yakima, WA, to Marvin and Mary Graves and was the oldest of five children. David graduated from Roosevelt High School in Johnstown, CO, in 1976.
In August of 1978, David met his wife, Cindy, at Johnson's Corner. It did not take them long to know they belonged together. They were married on March 31, 1979, in Loveland. A daughter, Stacie Marie, was born in February 1988. David was thrilled to have his little girl. This completed the family.
David worked for Johnson's Corner truck stop for several years before he left to become a Ditch Rider for Greeley Loveland Irrigation in 1983. He loved working in the country and knew most farmers from Loveland to Greeley. Retiring in 2006, David and the family moved into town. He worked briefly at King GMC before working for the Thompson R2J School District as a driver in the Nutritional Services Department. He delivered food to the Loveland schools daily and enjoyed seeing the small children who called him Mr Dave. He retired in 2021.
David was one of a kind. He was a cowboy and an honest, loving, kind, and hardworking man. David loved his family more than anything. He loved his horses, dogs, and cats that he had over the years. Losing them was hard for him as they were always a part of the family. David collected guitars, John Wayne memorabilia, and antique firearms. He believed things were worth working for. He took great pride in his home and that it was his. He loved tinkering in his garage, working in his yard, and playing his guitars. Life was good.
David is survived by his wife of 45 years, Cindy (Krull) Graves of Loveland; daughter, Stacie Graves of Denver; sister-in-law, Krystal Krull of Loveland; sister Karen Spencer and family of Rock Springs, WY; brothers Dennis Graves and family of LaSalle, Tom Graves of LaSalle, Randal Graves and family of Rock Springs WY; his uncle Raymond and wife Jackie Moore of Escondido, CA, and several cousins. David was preceded in death by his parents, Marvin and Mary Graves, and in-laws, Robert and Beverly Krull.
David will be missed by many people. We love you, dear, and you will always be in our hearts. Until we see you again.
