Charlotte was born January 3, 1931 in O’Neill, Nebraska to Daniel Sullivan and Gladys (Ridgeway) Sullivan. She had six siblings, Donald, Patricia, Maureen, Mary Jean, Rita, and Daniel.
Charlotte was raised on the family farm outside O’Neill, Nebraska and graduated from St. Mary’s Cathedral High School in 1950.
On December 9, 1951 in Manhattan, Kansas, she married Robert Eugene Markworth. Together they raised five children, Robert Junior, Mary, Joseph, James, and Charles.
After military service, Robert and Charlotte raised their children on a farm outside Chapman, Nebraska. After farming for a few years, they moved to Colorado Springs, Colorado and continued to raise their family. They later moved to Pueblo, Colorado and finally Fort Collins, Colorado. In Colorado Springs, Charlotte worked as a nursing aide at several hospitals and for the Colorado Deaf and Blind School. She also enjoyed singing in the choir of her catholic parish.
Charlotte is survived by her children, Mary Benson, Joseph Markworth, James Markworth, and Charles Markworth; sisters, Mary Jean, and Rita Myers; grandchildren, Candice Clem, Megan Israel, Amanda Flynn, Jessica Osborn, Daniel Markworth, Kamri Hill, Asher Markworth, Nathan Markworth; thirteen great grandchildren; and one great- great grandson.
She is preceded in death by her husband Robert E. Markworth; son Robert S. Markworth; grandson Robert K. Markworth; siblings Donald Ridgeway, Patricia Plith, Maureen Dunphy, and Daniel Sullivan.
She will be remembered for her strength, wonderful smile and the love and support she provided her family. We love and miss you, rest in peace.
A twenty minute service will be held for Charlotte at Fort Logan National Cemetery in Denver, Colorado on July 24, 2024 at 11:30 AM. In lieu of flowers, Charlotte would have loved donations to Boys Town in Omaha, Nebraska.
