Carole Fletcher was a caring wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She passed away suddenly on August 30th, 2022 at the age of 81. She was born in Bloomington, Illinois on November 1st, 1940, to William and Vera Rabbe. Carole enjoyed sharing that her birthday was on All Saints’ Day. She graduated from Illinois State University with a degree in Education.
Carole married Harry “Buddy” Fletcher on August 18th, 1961, which was Buddy’s birthday. From that day forward he only had anniversaries. Carole and Buddy resided most of their married lives in Normal, Illinois, raising their two children. Carole worked as an esteemed Editor for Macmillan (McKnight) Publishers. They moved to Wellington, Colorado in 2002 to be near family, Brien Fletcher, Lori Fletcher-Khouri (Paul) and Mitchell, Matthew, and Benjamin Khouri.
Carole was witty, generous and a fun-loving person with the ability to find the positive in any situation and could always make people laugh. She truly enjoyed watching her children and grandchildren in sporting, theater, and musical events, in addition to crushing them all in ping pong. She particularly loved March Madness and completing the brackets with her kids and grandsons. She was quite competitive at this event and insisted there be money on the table. Carole cherished many strong relationships: lifelong friends from Illinois, her Wellington squad, Pinochle and Bridge friends, and the Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church family.
Carole was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother (Michael Rabbe) and brother in-law (Bob Robertson). Along with her immediate family, Carole is survived by her sister Janis Robertson, sister in-law Holly Rabbe and numerous nieces and nephews. Carole leaves behind a legacy of love and laughter, and will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Services will be held at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church in Fort Collins at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, September 23rd, 2022. The service will be livestreamed online through Our Saviour's website: https://our-saviours.org/.
