Tim Duke

Walter Timothy Duke, age 65, was born on July 30, 1950, to William Cecil Duke Sr. and Thelma Langford Duke, of Macon Georgia. Tim will always be remembered for being able to make you laugh, and his adoration for his two grandchildren. He will also be remembered for his patriotism, having served in law enforcement.

Tim graduated from Lanier High School (Macon, Georgia), in 1968. After his graduation, Tim served at the Macon Police Department for seven years. Later, he also served as the Security Coordinator for Boeing/ BAE Systems for twenty-one years.

Having many hobbies, Tim greatly admired crossword puzzles, reading crime novels, and spending time with his grandchildren. He would do these hobbies in his favorite chair at home with his wife nearby, and listening to The Gaithers southern gospel music. Tim was also an ordained Deacon and member of the choir at several Southern Baptist Churches over his lifetime.

Tim was married to his wife, Julia Layfield Duke on September 20, 1970. They then created their family and had a son, Warren Timothy Duke Sr., who later married his wife, Michelle Renee Duke. Warren and Michelle then had their two children, Warren (Chip) Duke Jr. and KayLyn Duke.

Walter Timothy Duke entered eternal rest on December 20, 2015. Tim is preceded in death by his parents, William Cecil Duke Sr. and Thelma Langford Duke; and sister, Vashti Duke Whitfield.

Tim is survived by his wife, Julia Layfield Duke; son Warren T. Duke Sr. and wife Michelle Duke; grandchildren, Warren (Chip) Duke Jr., and KayLyn Duke; Father-In-Law, Julian Layfield; Mother-In-Law, Florence Layfield; Brother, William (Bill) Duke and spouse Katie Duke; Brother-in-laws, Dana Whitfield and spouse Naomi Whitfield, Mike Odom and spouse Jan Odom, Emory Kitchens and spouse Latrisha Kitchens; numerous nieces and nephews; and his much loved dog, Grace.
