Paul was born in Austin, Texas on November 24, 1952, to Troy and Ruth Ell Bennett, Sr. After graduating from Killeen High School, he attended Baylor University and graduated with a B.B.A. in business.
Paul married his love Vicky Wallin in Killeen, Texas on June 25, 1977, thus beginning their 45 year journey together full of love, faith, family and community service. For Paul, God was first always. He dedicated his life to serving the Lord and serving others. He lived out his Baptist faith as an active member and Deacon of the church as well as volunteering and chairing numerous church committees.
After serving his country in the Army National Guard, Paul went on to build a long and successful career with TXU Energy (now Oncor). He developed many friendships throughout his career as he managed the Customer Service Department in Killeen, Tyler, Round Rock, Taylor, Plano and Brownwood, Texas. Always the one to put others first, he volunteered his time in many community-wide service organizations. Paul served as President of the Taylor Chamber of Commerce, President and Paul Harris Fellow Recipient of the Taylor Rotary Club, and member of the Tyler Kiwanis Club. After retirement, he went on to preside as the Business Manager of Providence Funeral Homes in Taylor, Elgin and Bastrop, Texas.
Paul enjoyed the outdoors throughout his life. He shared many good times hunting, fishing, and camping with his father, brother, family and friends. An avid sports fan, he loved baseball, golf, Baylor football, and watching his children and grandchildren play sports. Some of the best times for Paul were spent traveling with his wife, children and friends. He was particularly fond of the mountains in Montana, Wyoming and Colorado. A gifted musician, Paul expressed his love for music by attending concerts, playing in the band at Baylor University, singing in the church choir, and playing the piano. He always had a song in his heart.
Paul was tremendously proud of his entire family and words cannot adequately express the joy his wife, children and grandchildren brought into his life. Buddy (as he was known by his grandchildren) will be greatly missed by his wife Vicky, his daughter and son-in-law Marisa and Jason Lockhart, his son and daughter-in-law Brett and Ashley Bennett, and his grandchildren Bennett and Libby Lockhart, and Rider and River Bennett. Paul is also survived by his brother Troy Bennett, Jr. (Martha), nephews Greg Bennett (Susie) and Chris Bennett (Jessica), brother-in-law Robert Wallin, best friends Randy and Kathy Rich and many cousins and treasured friends. Paul was preceded in death by his parents, Troy and Ruth Ell Bennett, Sr.
Paul had a rich and wonderful life that will leave a lasting impact on all the lives he touched. He will be greatly missed but remembered always with love and respect.
Paul’s family is eternally grateful for the care and compassion he received from Senior Living Specialists, his in-home caregivers Nora Hasan and Nikita Taylor, along with the countless others at Avalon Memory Care and Anchor of Hope Hospice.
Visitation will be held Sunday, October 9th from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Stonebriar Funeral Home in Frisco, Texas. The memorial service will be held on Monday, October 10th at 11:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church at The Fields in Carrollton, Texas.
