James dedicated his life to his career as a barber, where he skillfully crafted hairstyles that left his clients feeling their best. His passion for his work was evident in the way he connected with each person who sat in his barber chair. James took great pride in his craft and was known for his attention to detail and warm personality.
James was also an art collector with an extensive collection he had curated over the years. He had a great eye for unique pieces and was passionate about supporting local artists.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, James valued his family above all else. He is survived by his loving wife Ida, who was a source of strength and support throughout his life; three children, Kim Hackbirth, Kris Hackbirth, and Kay Perry. James also leaves behind his brother Robert Hackbirth, sister Ruth Skeel, five grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest W. and Bessie Mae (Snyder) Hackbirth, sister Donna Ellis, and brothers David and Allen Hackbirth.
In his free time, James found solace in his faith. He worshiped at Stonebriar Community Church, where he found a sense of community and spiritual fulfillment.
