C.L. Hood was born on September 22, 1929 to Shelby and Lena Hood. He was born in Girard, TX but grew up in Canyon, TX with his four siblings, Raymond, Bill, Betty and Sue. He graduated from Canyon High School in 1947. He joined the US Air Force in 1951 as an A&E Mechanic Tech Instructor and Staff Sergeant until 1955. He received his Associates degree in Science from Amarillo College in 1958 and went on to Texas Tech to receive a Bachelor’s Degree of Science in Electrical Engineering in 1960. C.L. worked as a Purchasing Agent for Collins Radio Division of Rockwell International for 30 years.
C.L. married Sandra McClung on May 22, 1989. He was a loving and sincere to all that knew him. C.L. loved this country and his patriotism was portrayed throughout his life. He loved to be at his home on Lake Lewisville with his dog on his lap, watching football, NASCAR races, or mastering large puzzles. He also loved to travel in the United States and enjoyed Big Band, Instrumental Opera Music or anything by Johnny Cash. His passion to all that knew him though was classic cars! He was a collector of antique and classic cars, with a great love for Thunderbirds.
He is preceded in death by his parents Shelby and Lena Hood, his brother Raymond, and sister Betty. Left to carry on his legacy is his wife of 30 years, Sandra of Little Elm; daughter Jamie of Houston, TX; grandson Richie of Houston, TX; brother Bill Hood and his wife Marge of Mesquite, TX; sister Sue Fortune of Corpus Christi, TX; niece and nephews; and the Big D Little Birds Thunderbird Club of Dallas and Chevrolet SSR Fanatics Dallas/Ft. Worth. C.L. was loved here on earth and will continue to be remembered through all time and eternity.
