I'll never forget the loving mothering love that u gave me.  The laughs we shared... Ur warm embrace that felt like a warm blanket full of love. The funny stories we shared.  The advice u would give me.  I was blessed to have had u in my life. Rest in loving peace Momma Velma. Never forgotten. 

Dear Velma,
We go way back working at Ginsburg School.  Your big heart and love for the students and for your co-workers is something I will never forget.  In the last couple of years that we worked together, we enjoyed talking about chihuahuas.  You were a very special lady and I feel so blessed and honored to have called you friend.  Rest now and even though we hadn't seen or talked to each other since we retired, I will miss you.

Velma, you were the sweetest, kindness loving person.  I know the family will miss you so much. 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏😘 prayers to the family.

My mom was honestly the kindest, most geniune person you could ever know.  She literally did not have a bad bone in her body.  She's always shown such kindness and patience with everyone she ever met,  she never judged and only showed compassion.  Her loss is heartbreaking for not only family but for friends and neighbors that she's treated like family.  She worked with special needs children for over 35 years and she called each and everyone of them "her kids". There was a time she even invited them over during summer break to play in our little plastic pool. I guess a heart filled with that much love just can't last that long.  I will forever be grateful that she was in my life for as long as she was and I know she will forever be watching over us. I know she's with my sister now and they'll be on this new journey together.  I love you Momma!! Rest well and put in a good word for me❤

It was 1979, that we moved in next door to a very great neighbor 
I have known this family for almost 40 yrs.  As kids growing up with Rosie & Mary we all went to the same school and even took a road trip to Los Angels one summer.  I will miss seeing Velma when I visit my mother.  God be with you.   

I have known Velma forever 45 years  and she has always been an angel. Always smiling, always has a word of encouragement no matter how much she had on her plate, always a caring Angel, and someone I could depend on. Even though I didn't live in Fresno. My heart is breaking, but I know God always picks the best and most beautiful for His garden. I will miss her very much. God bless you, My Friend, and comfort your family.  Much love to all. An angel has gone home. Blessed be.

 George Martinez Sluggo I lived next door up until Nina bought my house daughter Rosie and Maria or my diaper buddies along with sisters my parents divorced I was in the fourth grade fifth grade in that house next door they gave to me I wa living there at the age of 13 14 years old by myself lol that's another story and another day today it's about my mama Velma  I used to cut my grass when I did my front yard and I would cut her grass edging that was her front yard and the Maldonado was one house over that was my best friend my brother his parents I want edge their front yard because they didn't own a Edgar so they would sweep up their yard and I would pick up my debris and velma's every once in awhile especially holidays she would send me a plate of food over and so 
would Maldonado  probably the only home cooked meals I got beside eating at the restaurant where I work once in awhile as I got older I got into some things I had to survive so I started hustling selling things I shouldn't have been selling growing things I should have been growing and she would see it my plants she would say I mejo  that's a beautiful plant can you grow one for me please so I would I give it to her she'd  put in the window sill in the dining room on the table dining room table a few days go by I will notice it get thinner and then it's gone and she tell me mejo my plant died you think you can grow  me another one ya Mama Vela are you sure you didn't smoke it she laughs can I grow another one and we go through the same routine again I would  say she was probably about the only mom figure I had in my life besides mrs. Maldonado you know I went by to apologize cuz I haven't been by and I Miss Maria's servicand one time I went by and they need some medication for Maria and I gave it to some I gave them some money told her I'd be back more often to say hi I and I just was always working I have stopped by just saw exact same thing and I seen her in her bed I' just broke do

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Maria Kearney; and grandsons Gregorio Robles and Anthony Martinez.
