Mary was born on December 8, 1917 to Allen Thomas and Lena Violet Simmons in Fresno, CA.
Mary graduated from Clovis High School and California State University, Fresno. Mary and her husband Don McAlpine were missionaries in Japan for 36 years with the Evangelical Alliance Mission. They lived in Tokyo, Shizoka, Nagoya and Osaka. While in Japan they established five Christian churches that are still thriving. Mary and Don were members of Calvery Church of Santa Ana.
The family would like to thank Mary's care givers, Arus Ambaryan and Arshaluys Kara- petyan for their wonderful care.
Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Donald McAlpine; her brother, Allen Roberts Simmons; and sister Barbara Ellen Dark.
She is survived by her sister, Estelle Hayes; nieces, Judy Swenson, Nancy McCray and Martha Ann Cardell; and nephews, Tom and Timothy McAlpine and Art and Don Cardell.
A Graveside Service will be held at Belmont Memorial Park on Tuesday, April 29, 2014 at 1:30 p.m.
