Mary Markarian

She was born in Mexico City to Nerces and Vartouhi Odabashian and lived there until 1945 when she married Eddie Markarian (the love of her life). They moved to Fresno where she lived until her death. She and Eddie had a wonderful life together and were fortunate enough to travel the world. Hawaii was their favorite place.

Mary was loved and adored by so many friends and relatives. She was an amazing wife, mother, grandmother, aunt and friend. As a mother, she was completely unselfish and would do anything and everything she could for her family and ask for nothing in return. She would have sacrificed anything for them, and appreciated everything that anyone did for her.

Malo was a phenomenal cook and loved to entertain in her home. No one ever forgot a meal that she prepared for them. Everyone was welcome in the Markarian home.

She adored children and they adored her as well. She entertained countless children, relatives and friends every summer. She always had fudgesicles, popsicles and candy for the kids and always aimed to please everyone. They all remember those summers fondly and still talk about the wonderful memories that were made during their visits.

Mary had a great spirit and was full of spunk. She was outspoken and always let you know what she was thinking. If she saw a handsome person, she would always let them know how good they looked. She was very social, lovable, generous beyond compare, and had a heart of gold. Her family was her world, and her granddaughters were the sunshine that lit up her world. If you were fortunate enough to call Mary your friend, you had a special gift that money could never buy. She could make anyone laugh and if you met her, you would not forget her. She had a beautiful life and lived it to its fullest.

Playing bridge was one of her favorite hobbies and she and Eddie were active members of the South Fresno Lions Club.

Malo was preceded in death by her parents and her dear husband Eddie "Mouse."

She is survived by her daughters, Susie Markarian and Nancy Rocha and her husband Larry; granddaughters, Laura and Julie Rocha. She is also survived by her brother, John Odabashian and his wife Laura; his sons, Scott and Mark; and many other nieces and nephews.

A special thanks to her wonderful caregiver Darla Cleary for her personal care and love for the last three years.

Per Mary's request the burial will be private at Belmont Memorial Cemetery. At a later date, a memorial luncheon will be announced.
