Mrs. Maria Mayora Nash

Maria M. Nash was born on July 25, 1933 in El Salvador, Central America, and passed away on Tuesday, April 12, 2011 at the age of 77. She was an amazing wife, beautiful mother, loving grandmother, and precious friend to so many. In 1957, she came to the United States to live with her aunt in San Francisco, where she fell in love and married John G. Nash, of Oakland, CA on Sept. 7, 1957 at St. Agnes Church in San Francisco, CA.

She proudly became a wonderful mother to Tricia, Geriann, and Jon. After several moves, Maria and John Nash settled in Auberry, CA, in 1977. Shortly thereafter she became an American Citizen. After a tragic accident in 1981, she lost her youngest and only son, Jon Paul Nash. Following this tragedy, she started her own grief support group, one of many special gifts Maria Nash gave to her community. She also taught Catechism and RCIA for the Catholic Church, taught Spanish to many, and also her favorite hobby of crocheting to so many blessed children and adults. Her entire life was based on helping others. In 2003 she was recognized and awarded the “Medical Interpreter Volunteer of the Year” (The George Award) by Children’s Hospital Central California. Her strong Catholic Faith and Spirituality were always a priority to her. Maria Nash was a Eucharistic Minister for their parish, Infant Jesus of Prague, for many years.

Maria has been described as a light to the world, and her influence on the lives of so many will be missed.

Maria Nash is survived by John Nash, her husband of 54 years, her two daughters, Tricia Hendrix and Geriann Perry and her husband Joe, six grandchildren, Donny and his wife Mary, Jon and his wife Julie, Korey, Austin, Jared, and Madeline, and two great- grandchildren, Ethan and Taylor. She is also survived by her brothers, Dr. Carlos Escobar Mayora and Julio Escobar Mayora, and her sister Angelita Mayora de Orsenigo.

The Rosary for Maria Nash was held at Whitehurst Chapel, in Fresno, CA on April 18th, 2011. The funeral was held on April 19, 2011 at her parish, Infant Jesus of Prague in Tollhouse, CA, followed by her burial at Tollhouse Cemetery.
