Manuel peacefully passed away on May 3,2022 with his daughter and one of his sons at his side. Manuel was born on December 8, 1927,in Brawley, California to Julio and Margarita Olmos. He had six brothers and six sisters; Manuel being the eldest.
Dad was gifted with the gift of vision. He could look at any bare soil and totally landscape it in his head or see the land and picture vegetation on it. Settled on a 2 1/2 acre patch of land in West Fresno that became the ranch, the little farm, and the home of Olmos landscaping. The place where life was celebrated, and ultimately the place that Manuel and Pauline built. It was where Manuel's legacy of being grandpa was established. The days began and ended here. Those days were filled with a lot of hard work, creating beautiful landscapes and caring for yards all over the valley. There are so many memories of time spent singing and playing his guitar, cooking carnitas, long poker games and long conversations, well mostly grandpa's stories for all those lucky enough to listen. So many days of Manuel's last few decades were spent working on the property and it gave him great pride to see his hard work enjoyed by his family. He had plenty of trips to the casino or the Mountain as he liked to call it. Some trips to the Mountain were profitable but all were memorable. He also took pride in telling us how he came back a winner on the profitable days. But ultimately the thing he was most proud of, not in a boastful way, but in a way that brought him great joy, was knowing how much he was loved by the family he started so
long ago.
Many people live a long life, but not all are fortunate to have a life well lived. During the past 14 years we were privileged to witness a beautiful transformation and conversion of deep faith. Our father became a
very spiritual person and one who truly loved our Lord. His actions toward other people became very loving and forgiving. He was dedicated and forever helpful to his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Always available to do whatever was needed to get the job done. He leaves this earth with a beautiful legacy well intact and more importantly he leaves us with the joyful anticipation of seeing him again with mom when we meet in heaven. His peaceful journey home was evidence of answered prayers.
Manuel leaves behind his four children and their spouses; John and Becky Olmos, Suzanne Lopez, Leonard and Henriquetta Olmos, Larry and Heidi Olmos, ten grandchildren, and twenty great grandchildren.
