Lori Renee Lum

Lori was born on January 15, 1965 to Ted and Joyce Smith in Fresno, CA.

While at Immanuel High School in Reedley, she did well in academics and learned to play the flute—which she still played each year in the family Christmas concert.

Fascinated by children, she completed her certificate in Child Development from FCC. Although unable to have her own children, she was a great Auntie. She also enjoyed meeting families with kids at church, in line at Disneyland, or while on trips around the world.

In 1988, Steven Lum swept her off her feet, and they were married at Fresno Evangelical Free Church. Although currently a homemaker in Clovis, CA, she and Steve enjoyed traveling around the world. She loved people and made friends wherever she went.

We will miss Lori dearly, but for her, “to live is Christ, and to die is gain.” She enjoyed digging into the scriptures and often broke out singing praise songs to God while in conversation with others! She had a beautiful smile and was excited to share with others how God had done miracles in her life, and how they too could know him.

She faced many health challenges over the years. Some, like seizures and memory loss, came as a result of her car accident at age 16. She also had several battles with cancer, although her recent blood tests were good. Through it all, she had a strong faith in God’s plan for her life.

Lori is survived by her husband Steven Lum; her parents Ted and Joyce Smith; her sister Gaylene DeMars, husband Brian, and children Matthew married to Dianne with Oceana and Anmarie, Krista married to Eric with Ashlyn, and Kevin; Lori’s sister Shelly Smith; and Lori’s brother Greg Smith and wife Amanda with children Grant, Luke and Hope. Other family includes her sister in law Shari Lee and husband Doug with Brittany and Joshua; and her sister in law Susan Geisler with husband Gary with Caleb, Luke, and Matthew.

Lori was well loved and will be missed by all. We are comforted to know we will see her again in Heaven.

Visitation will be held at Stephens & Bean Chapel on Thursday, November 16, 2017, from 2:00 to 7:00 p.m. Internment will be at Clovis Cemetery.

Celebration service will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, November 18, 2017 at Riverpark Bible Church in Fresno, CA. A lunch reception will follow on site.
