Jess also known as (Don Chuy) was born on October 17, 1929 in Nochistlán, Zac. Mexico. He was the second born son of Mauricio Cervantes and Refugio Aquino Cervantes. Jess worked many years as a farmworker in the fields before working for Fresno State for 22 years as a custodian. He had a strong commitment to his family and his community and the ability to exemplify his love through his actions, he was a great example of a man, father, beam of light, always positive, always respectful and a TRUE CABALLERO!
He was a wonderful, gentle, humble and strong husband, father of (7), grandfather of (14) and great grandfather of (6). Jess enjoyed making Chili Verde, papas, menudo or Posole for breakfast every Sunday for his family. He loved having all his children come over every Sunday BBQ and watch football, that was the highlight of his week. He also enjoyed time at the casino playing Blackjack and slot machines and occasional golf with his sons. Most important Jess was an avid faithful catholic and attending daily mass was very important to him.
“Dad/Grandpa we will love you forever, we thank and honor you for always putting others first in your life, and for taking care of your family in the best way you knew how. Your life was a blessing, your memory a treasure, missing you forever.”
"Papá / abuelo, te amaremos por siempre, te agradecemos y honramos por siempre poner a los demás primero en tu vida y por cuidar a tu familia de la mejor manera que sabías. Tu vida fue una bendición, tu memoria un tesoro, extrañándote para siempre".

Blessings are all around us and Heritage Crossing Hospice is one of them. Their loving hand in caring for our father/grandpa was very appreciated and we will forever be grateful to Nurse Lori and Sonia his bath caregiver. The love, gentleness and patience they applied to their visits made the process much easier. Thank you.
