George lived a fulfilling and impactful life. George grew up in Clovis, California and spent much of his childhood with family in Pinedale, California. He attended Clovis West High School where he was a standout athlete in football and baseball and was named the school’s male athlete of the year in 1980.
After high school, he attended Fresno State where he met Lydia, his wife of 36 years, and earned his Bachelors and Masters in Social Work. He went on to become a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and began his career at Comprehensive Youth Services before joining the Clovis Police Department for nearly 30 years. At Clovis PD, he began his career as a family counselor as part of a diversion program for adolescents and went on to serve as Police Services Manager for Youth and Animal Services.
George was committed to his family, his work, and his coworkers. He had a passion for building teams, helping others succeed, and was a fierce competitor. He enjoyed playing golf, watching football, and spending time with family.
George was preceded in death by his father George Rodriguez and sister Marian Gutierrez.
George is survived by his mother Mary Cornwell, wife Lydia Rodriguez, and sons George Rodriguez IV and Matthew Rodriguez.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, January 30, 2024, at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, Clovis, CA at 10:00am. A Private Family committal service will follow.
