Emma V. Leon February 10, 1925 Fresno, California passed away on September 18, 2022 at the age of 97 and 7 months. Emma was blessed with two sons, Simon Salvador Leon and Alfred Steven Chiles, seven grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren, not to mention several adopted grandchildren that she loved dearly. Emma is the oldest of 7 children with whom she had many nieces and nephews. Emma was a retired telephone operator/supervisor from AT&T after 43 years of service.
In her younger years, besides hanging out with her friends, Emma had a love for bowling which was something she shared with her siblings and passed onto her sons. Family was important to Emma and she was there for you when you needed her, to help, to listen, to give her words of wisdom or to lead you to God. She really enjoyed visiting with everyone and taking candid pictures to remember the moments. Cooking was a great love of hers. Finding a good recipe, trying it and then sharing that recipes with others. Her home was filled with cook books, note cards, newspaper clipping and printed out papers of all kinds of recipes. As much as she loved cooking she loved to teach other how to cook! Emma enjoyed keeping up with current events and was an avid watcher of news and politics and could be found up late watching her 11 o’clock news before bed.
Preceeded in death by her parents, Roberto & Jesus, four of her siblings, Bob, Fred, Raul and Henrietta, and by her sons Simon and Steven. She is survived by her sister Bertha and Brother Luis and by her grandchildren Kristie Leon, Christol Chiles, Monique (Juan) Gama, Christopher (Desiree) Leon, Hillarie (Adrian) Cerrillo, Jennifer Leon, and Luis Leon. Her great grandchildren Travis Leon, Isabelle Gama, Haylea Crawford, Maddison Gama, Kenneth Bates, Brooklynn Gama, Orion Cerrillo, Simon Leon, Devon Chiles, Colton Leon, Emilia Cerrillo and Nathan Leon.
Her candidness, her laugh, her presence will truly be missed.
