Edward, “Ed” Conrad Stumpf passed away peacefully on February 17, 2023 at the age of 97. Ed was born on December 1, 1925 in Fresno, CA. He is the son of Conrad and Anna (Arnst) Stumpf. Ed was a graduate of Edison High School in Fresno, CA. and a very proud, courageous WWII Veteran. He achieved the rank of Sargent in the U.S. Army. Ed was aboard the Central Valley Honor Flight to Washington, DC in September 2014.
He worked at the Richfield Garage while attending Fresno State. He was with Watson & Meehan, Cummins West, Inc. as Parts Manager for 42 years. Well before You Tube, Ed could walk you through assembling a diesel engine. Ed, always a car buff knew all makes, models & performance. He made many friends and contacts throughout his career.
March 3, 1951, he married June E. Anderson, the love of his life. Ed & June were very active in The Cross Church. Ed a lifetime member and Deacon for many years. Ed was a devoted and wonderful husband to June, deceased 11/5/2015. Always supportive to his family and the best Father ever to Debbie, Vickie and Linda. Camping trips to Yosemite, Kings Canyon & Sequoia and beach excursions to Santa Cruz were the family favorites. Ed always “walked” for health until the end and thought it quite remarkable to become the oldest living “Stumpf”.
In addition to his career, Ed supported and was actively involved in several civic organizations including the Masonic Lodge, Indian Maidens, Fresno Transportation Club and the Edison Social Club. Following 42 years in their home, Ed & June were residents of Fairwinds Woodward Park. Ed, known for being a friend, gentleman, and very gracious dancing partner, will truly be missed.
