Donna Palomino, a cherished educator, devoted wife, loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on April 12, 2024, in Fresno, California, at the age of 86. In her final days, she was surrounded by her loving family and devoted caregivers. Born on March 7, 1938, in Madera, California, to Don and Dale Hubbard, Donna grew up as the middle child in a lively household with two siblings.
A proud graduate of Madera High School (1955), Donna furthered her education at Fresno City College, where she earned an associate’s degree, followed by a bachelor's degree and teaching credential from California State University, Fresno. Her academic journey shaped her future as a compassionate bilingual teacher at Rowell Elementary School, enriching the lives of countless students and forming lifelong friendships with colleagues.
Donna's dedication to education extended beyond her retirement. She continued to impact young minds through part-time work as a certificated tutor at Homan Elementary School and later by assisting with English Language assessments in Fresno Unified School District. Her influence on education and her students' lives was profound and enduring.
In her personal life, Donna was a beacon of strength and love. She supported her husband, Herb, through his 25-year battle with Multiple Sclerosis-- a testament to her unwavering commitment and love. After Herb's passing in 1997, Donna found solace and joy in the arts. She engaged in her passions for reading, movies, plays, and concerts. She was a familiar face at her local Starbucks, where she enjoyed lively discussions with friends.
Donna cherished her family deeply, celebrating every moment with them, especially with her son Anthony and his wife Lorraine, her daughter Stephanie and her husband Aaron, her granddaughter Meagan and her husband Brandon, and her two remarkable great-granddaughters,
Madelyn and Jocelyn.
Donna's legacy of selflessness, devotion to her family, friends and students will continue to inspire all who knew her. She will be dearly missed but her bright smile and the love she shared will never be forgotten.
