Cynthia Denise Amaro

She passed away peacefully on October 10, 2022, surrounded by her loving family, following a nine-year battle with cancer.

Cindy was raised in Kettleman City and attended Kettleman City Elementary School, Avenal High School, and West Hills College. She grew up working at her father’s Chevron service station, selling candy and sodas, pumping gas and changing tires, and it was there where Cindy met the love of her life, Terry.

They married on September 7, 1973 and over the next eight years moved six times, finally settling down in her lifelong home in Clovis.

Cindy was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, daughter, sister, cousin and friend. She was a homemaker, gourmet cook, master seamstress, interior designer, gardener, political analyst and devoted fan of the San Francisco Giants.

When she wasn’t busy preparing meals for entire soccer or volleyball teams as team mom, sewing bespoke sundresses and Halloween costumes for her grandchildren, preparing meals for family gatherings, or decorating her home with the perfect seasonal touches, Cindy was likely to be found working hard to make the world around her a better place and having fun doing it.

Cindy was a hardworking volunteer at her children’s schools, St. Anthony’s and San Joaquin Memorial. She chaired nearly every parent fundraising committee; organized school-wide sports “play days” with her bedazzled cap, clipboard and whistle; designed and managed the St. Anthony’s yearbook; and with her fellow volunteer friends, started the St. Anthony’s hot lunch program.

She also shared her time and talents with community service organizations, serving as president and chairing the major fundraising events for Llanada Guild and for LARCs.

As her children grew older and went off to college, Cindy worked as the assistant manager at Brides of Mission Village bridal store, as a gift buyer for a local Longs Drugs, and as an assortment analyst at the Gottschalk’s department store headquarters.

Regardless if she was working, volunteering, or simply going about her day, Cindy made friends every place she went – Cindy knew no strangers, just friends she hadn’t met yet.

Cindy’s smile, laughter and joy was infectious – she brought her high energy and unwavering optimism wherever she went and made it a point to celebrate life’s everyday moments, big and small. Everyone’s day was instantly brightened the moment Cindy walked in the room.

Cindy is survived by her husband, Terry; her son Aaron Amaro, his wife Leigh, and their children Jillian and Terry; her daughter Taylor Brott, her husband Dax, and their children Clark and Lucy; and her sister, Brenda Wilson.

Her visitation will be held at Stephens and Bean Funeral Chapel at 202 N. Teilman Ave., Fresno on Tuesday, October 25, 2022 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, October 26, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church at 5770 N. Maroa Ave., Fresno; followed by a celebration of life at Pardini's at 2257 W. Shaw Ave., Fresno. Cindy's immediate family will join the reception following a private interment at St. Peter's Catholic Cemetery.
