Corina was born on November 13, 1950 in Dallas, Texas. She was one of 10 siblings in Dallas. Corina was raised by her grandmother, Andrea Contreras and moved to California in 1959 when she was nine years old. Corina lived in Fresno and worked at a turkey hatchery, picked grapes and other fruit, to make extra money, all while in her teens. She graduated from Fresno High School in 1969.
In her younger years, Corina worked for Fresno County E.O.C. and also worked at ARC as a grant writer to raise funds to help developmentally and intellectually disabled adults. She had a passion for helping those who could not help themselves and always wanted to start a home for abused women and children. With this dedication to help people, it was only a matter of time that her passion would evolve to reality.
Several years later, she experienced her greatest accomplishment by creating her all – female gun club, Blush & Bullets. She created an organization that brought women together through comradery. She empowered women to take control of their own destiny. Corina had the charisma to bring people together for whatever cause. Her approach was no nonsense and she told it like it was. She was a straight shooter. Tough and right to the point. No sugar coating. Corina was a very strong-willed woman and did not take shit from anyone. And for those reasons, the club was a success and her memory will live on forever.
Corina is survived by her loving husband of 18 years, Frank Lopez of Madera, her daughter and son-in-law, Falina and John D. Marihart of Clovis, and grandchildren, Luke, Katie and Jerron, and great-grand daughter, Daisy, her only son and daughter-in-law, Joseph and Amy Himes of Kentucky and grandchildren, Ryan and Anna, and her youngest daughter, Amanda Himes of Sacramento, and grand-dog, Pete. She is also survived by her step-children, Kathleen and Jason Remner of Madera, and their sons, Cole and Jordan, Rachel Remner and Harley Don of Auburn, and their children, Noel and Ion, and Franklin and Breann Lopez of Visalia, and their son, Liam. Corina is also survived by her brother and sisters, many cousins, nieces and nephews.
