Charles Harold Fane was born November 28, 1942 in Little Rock Arkansas to the union of Clyde and Rosie Fane. Charles graduated from Edison High School in June 1960. Right out of high school, he served four years in the United States Air Force and received his Honorable Discharge on October 30, 1966.
He attended Fresno State four years and was 6 units shy of his BA Degree when offered a management position with Pacific Bell. Charles enjoyed a prosperous career with Pacific Bell (later AT & T) that lasted 29 years. He earned numerous awards including the “Marketing Models of Excellence”. During his employment he was United Way and AT &T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am Representative. He also served as President of the Telephone Pioneers of America Organization. He was an active member on several boards. The most notable was 20 years and 6 months with the Soc Val Tel Federal Credit Union Board. After retirement with ATT & T, he joined the Consumer Credit Bureau Team and worked over 6 years with this organization.
Charles was athletic. He loved to play basketball. He was on a high school team and enjoyed mixing it up with neighborhood boys. What he lacked in height and weight he made up with quickness and wit which annoyed the opposition to the point that they began to call him mosquito. This was shortened to Skeeta. He joined the Pacific Bell Basketball league and enjoyed that until introduced by a friend to a bowling league. Charles was a fierce competitor. His team won many league championship playoffs. Their crowning achievement was winning the California State Tournament in 1992. His personal high achievement was a perfect 300 point game rolled in 1987 that added him to a special club, which entitled him to a beautiful ring and impressive trophy. He went on from there to conquer golf. He won the Fresno Bell G. C. “2006 Low Net Champ Meet” and earned a beautiful trophy.
On October 26, 1968 Charles married childhood sweetheart Delphia Madden Daniel. She brought to the union Dina Daniel. They were blessed with 2 more children, Cindy Jorel and Charles Jr.
He had early childhood Christian training which lead him to cast his membership with Family Community Church in 2004 under the pastorate of Pastor Chester McGensy. He departed life March 16, 2011 at the age of 68. He leaves to mourn his passing his loving wife of 42 years Delphia Fane, of Fresno Ca; one son, Charles Fane Jr. of Fresno; two daughters, Dina Daniel of Fresno, Ca. and Cindy Jorel Fane of Nashville TN; seven brothers, Michael Fane of Tacoma, WA., Glen Fane and Kevin Fane of Las Vegas, NV., Marvin Fane, Richard Fane and William Fane all of Fresno, Ca.; four sisiters, Gwendolyn J. Parks, Shirley A. Cowlings, Joyce M Shoals and Debra Espinoza all of Fresno, Ca. and many more relatives and friends.
Charles was preceded in death by his mother, Rosie Lee Fane, his father Elder Clyde Fane, and four brothers; Clyde Fane, Osie Brown, Robert Fane and Maurice Fane. He will be deeply missed by us all.
