Cameron Lee Hicks passed away in Clovis, California on Saturday, January 14, 2023 at the age of 37. He was born August 10, 1985 in Coalinga, California and enjoyed 15 summers there playing home-run derby by day and ditch’em by night. He was never without a crew of friends riding bikes or down at Bill Young Baseball field. After moving to Clovis, California in June of 2000, Cam began his freshman year at Buchanan High School where he quickly took to both football and baseball, excelling at both. He bonded with teachers and coaches alike and made his parents’ backyard bonfire pit a place for many to call home on a Friday night. He graduated with the class of 2004 with memories and friendships to last a lifetime.
Cameron later moved to Boise Idaho, working for Micron Technology, Inc. and enjoying all of the outdoor activities that the beautiful state has to offer. From fly fishing to big game hunting and everything in between, he loved the outdoors and often referenced his time there as one of the brightest points of his life. Cam also loved to write, to spend time with friends and was an avid sports fan; his heart belonged to the Atlanta Braves. Albeit an accomplished fly fisherman, a profound writer and an avid guitar player, all that came second to his knack for storytelling. Many will miss that the most about him.
Cameron is survived by his loving parents Ron and Beth (Boyer) Hicks; his sisters Kelsey (Hicks) Bojorquez and Katlin (Hicks) Kolb, their husbands Jordan Bojorquez and Trevor Kolb as well as four beloved nieces and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. He is preceded in death by grandparents Bill and Betty Boyer and Charles Hicks; infant brother Derek Hicks; and uncles Gary Bloemker and Don Spraque.
Funeral services will be held at Celebration Church, Clovis Campus on Friday, February 17, 2023 at 10:30 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, please consider donating in Cameron’s name to the Fresno Fly Fishers for Conservation at www.FresnoFlyFishers.org or the Zachary Horton Foundation for substance abuse at www.ZacharyHortonFoundation.org/donate.
