After serving in the United States Army Air Corps during WWII, he became a pharmaceutical and sundries salesman for 50 years.
He was preceded in death by Stephanie Smith, his beloved wife of 56 years; son, Fr. Chuck Smith; and daughter-in-law, Christine Smith.
Bruce is survived by sister, Doris Woods; twin sister, Bernice Molich; and his children, Janet Richard and her husband Jim, John Smith and Kevin Smith; grandchildren, Michel and his wife Li, Samantha, and Cameron; great grandchildren, Henry and Noelle; and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held at Whitehurst, Sullivan, Burns & Blair Funeral Home on Tuesday, March 29, 2011, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. followed by Recitation of the Holy Rosary at 7:00 p.m.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at the Shrine of St. Therese Catholic Church on Wednesday, March 30, 2011, at 10:00 a.m. Interment to follow at St. Peter's Cemetery.
