Bob Allan Baxter, 81 years old, a longtime resident of the Oklahoma City and Dallas, Texas area has lived in Fresno, California for the past 24 years with his wife Carolyn Baxter.
Bob had a long career at Boeing and Northrop Grumman combined for 40 years. He was a successful aerospace engineer and lawyer. He was involved in developing parts for the Hubble Space Telescope and was a litigator with Northrop Grumman. He enjoyed sharing his memories about his experiences flying his plane and taking his sailboat out on the Gulf. He enjoyed taking photography classes at Fresno City College and used that skill often when it came to his grand-children’s’ sports. Bob was an avid golfer and is naturally very competitive.
Bob attended Oklahoma University, University of Texas, and University of Southern California. He was always excited to watch the OU-Texas football game. He was a very active member of SIRS (Sons in Retirement), where he not only held an office at the local level, but also at the state level in California.
Bob was born April 19, 1943 in Mcleansboro, Illinois and went to be with the Lord on July 13, 2024. He is preceded in death by his Father William R. Baxter, Mother Betty Baxter Pierce, Daughter Melissa Lovejoy, Grandson Andrew Hagger and his Great Dane Judge.
He is survived by his wife Carolyn Baxter and “Chloe his Puppy Dog”, Daughter Tara and her husband Peter Haggar, Daughter Tamie Winn, Stepdaughter Cheryl and her husband Joe Chavez. He was blessed with 10 grandchildren Lauryn, Keely, Lexi Haggar; April and husband Jordan Stevenson and Misty and husband Allen Lewis; Sara, Ryan and Lovejoy; Mikell and Karlie Chavez. Bob also has 6 great grandchildren.
Bob had impacted many with his advice, tough love and tender moments. He will truly be missed by his family and friends.
A visitation is scheduled for Saturday, July 27, 2024 from 1:00 – 2:00 PM at Whitehurst, Sullivan, Burns and Blair Funeral Home - 836 E. Nees Ave, Fresno, CA 93720, followed by a A Celebration of Life Service at 2:00 PM.
Bob will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the pleasure of knowing him. His legacy of love and kindness will continue to inspire us all.
