Sally Bowe Daubel

Born May 9, 1941 in Minneapolis MN, she was a graduate of Holy Angels Academy and Marquette University. She was married to James F. Daubel and had three daughters, Kathleen Daubel of Chicago, Elizabeth (Thomas) Lang, Westlake Village CA, and Allison Leoni, Summit NJ, all of whom survive.

Survivors also include five grandchildren, William, Olivia and Grace Leoni, and twins Flynn and Alexander Lang; sisters Frances Cottrell of Minneapolis, Mary Pardue, Amelia Island FL and Patrick Bowe of Evanston IL, and 22 nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Frances Bowe of Minneapolis, and brothers, the Rev. John Bowe, Thomas Bowe, Richard Bowe, and Charles Bowe.

After Sally graduated from the Marquette University College of Journalism in 1963, she moved to Skokie IL where she worked for a suburban weekly newspaper. After the Daubel’s marriage on Feb. 8, 1964, she moved to Dallas TX where her husband was working for the Dallas Morning News.

While there, she was employed as a copywriter for the Sanger Harris department store and in continuity with radio station KBOX.

In 1965 the family, including one-year-old Kathleen, moved to Elyria, OH, where Sally was a homemaker for seven years and her husband was employed by The Chronicle-Telegram. They moved to Fremont in 1972.

She was employed as a substitute teacher in the Fremont school system and later for 15 years in promotions and publicity at the Hayes Presidential Center then in the same capacity at Terra State Community College.

Sally recently retired as a board member of the Terra College Foundation.

She was a past president of the Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, past president of Coterie, a volunteer on the St. Joseph Central Catholic High School publication, the Voice, and member of St. Joseph Parish and St. Mary Parish on Amelia Island FL.

Memberships also include the Fremont Country Club and the Amelia Island Club in Florida where the Daubels were seasonal residents from 2004 until recently when illness restricted her travel.

Visitation will be at 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at Keller-Ochs-Koch-Mason Funeral Home, 416 Arch St. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church with burial in St. Joseph Cemetery.

The family requests donations to the Hayes Presidential Center, Terra College Foundation or St. Joseph Central Catholic High School.
