Marc Leandro, 46, passed away at his father’s home on Saturday, August 30, 2014 after a heroic battle with liver and kidney failure.

Marc was a graduate of Castro Valley High School and a life-long member of the Ashland Holy Ghost Association. Marc spent the last twenty- five years of his life as a skilled carpenter and painter. He had a passion for cooking gourmet meals with his family and friends, often using home-grown vegetables and herbs from his garden. He was an avowed fan of the Raiders and Oakland A’s, and attended the games at every opportunity. One of his last wish was to attend an A’s game with fireworks, which he was able to do with the help of his Dad and his long-time companion, Donna.

Marc leaves behind Donna Medina, his partner of over 12 years. He is survived by his parents, Ruben Silva Leandro and Evelyn Rocha Leandro, his two daughters, Alexandria Leandro and Kayla Leandro and their mother Soha Nakano. Also left behind are his brother, Ken Leandro, wife, Carol and children – Carly and Chance, his sister, Jamie Ghilardi, and husband, Christopher Hauge. ALL of whom will miss him dearly. Marc enjoyed a large Portuguese family with numerous Aunts and Uncles and some 33 cousins.

A prayer vigil celebrating Marc’s life will be held on Sunday, September 7, 2014, at 7:00 p.m., San Leandro Funeral Home, 407 Estudillo Ave., San Leandro CA.

Funeral Mass will be held at the Church of the Assumption, 1100 Fulton Ave., San Leandro, CA. Monday, September 8, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. Graveside burial to follow at Holy Sepulchre, 26320 Mission Blvd., Hayward, CA Reception to follow the burial at Ashland Holy Ghost Association Hall, 16490 Kent Ave. San Lorenzo, CA 94580

The family requests, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the St. Vincent De Paul Society, care of the Church of the Assumption.
