I was searching info regarding the crusaders,and was sad to see Coach  Albright had passed...i had played just one season for the jr. crusaders,and was fortunate enough to have been coached by quite a few really knowledgeable and passionate coaches..i worked very hard to be as good as possible,and was rewarded with always being a starter on both sides of the field,and special teams...it was very pleasing to get recognition from the coaching staff,as i had tremendous respect for them...although i really seemed to like,and get along with all the coaches,it seemed that Coach Albright was my favorite...He had taken the time to give me a chance to be a starter by speaking up for me,putting me in practice situations,and pulling me aside to be a little more detailed with instruction.it seemed he was always the one to ensure i had a "voice"with the coaching decisions,and i was pleased to prove his backing of my efforts to be correct...in short,i felt like he was my father on the field,always there to instruct ,correct,or even just lighten up my serious competitive effort with a little joking around(i obtained the nickname "Layback Lenny" from CoachAlbright).the coaches were all great to us,and we were a perfect 10-0 team(1977,i believe),but the extra effort i recieved from Coach Albright really touched my heart,even to this day.not having a father(he had just passed in a motorcycle accident),and with the coaches not knowing that,,i can say ,they all really left a good impression on my heart for their care to help me,in one of my favorite endeavors i ever took on in my life,playing for the undefeated San Leandro Crusaders...i thank all of the coaches,but have a bit more thanks for Coach Albright for the extra time He gave me ,when i really needed it...THANKS FOR YOUR LOVE COACH LARRY ALBRIGHT,AND MAY OUR GOD JESUS BLESS YOU FOREVERMORE......Leonard VanDusen

Dear Coach Albright....thank you for dedicating your time and energy to the development of boys to men through the game of football.  Your coaching has helps me in more ways than you'll ever know.  A part of you lives in me and has made me a better man, father and husband.

I will miss you Coach Albright but will never forget you.

It was so sad to read of Larry's passing. He was a good, kind man, an outstanding police officer and respected and liked by all who knew him. My sincere sympathy to Sheila, their children, and family.

We are so sorry to hear about Larrys passing.  We thought of him as one of our MuttHut family members.  The stories he told us will be with us forever.  I will miss his tuesday visits, we knew when he would be there and waited for another wonderful story.   He will be truly missed.  Our thoughts and prayers are with you.

We really loved having Larry become part of our family when Dan married Tanya.  He had the greatest personality, always a story to tell, and just loved people.  He and Ted really bonded when they had the chance to hang out together.  We'll always remember the glimmer in his eye; the big smile on his face, and his ready hugs of welcome.  What a nice man he was, what an example he left, and he will be missed by many.  To all the family, we know you have such wonderful memories to keep him alive in your hearts and minds.  He will never be forgotten.  Rest in peace, dear friend, Larry.

I was saddened to learn of the passing of Larry.  He was loved by many.  He was one person that was respected by all.  My deepest sympathy to his family.

I remember Larry bantering about baseball with my Mom and Dad, and he finding out that he was third best in the group.  I will miss Larry.  But  in my heart, like my wife Janice said, you have a great threesome going up there, Danny Townsend, Del Dehn and Larry.  Hit them straight, hit them long, and most of all enjoy.

I am sorry to hear of Larry's passing.I have fond memories of Larry from my days in the Police Cadets and watching him play softball for the PD. May you rest in peace. My prayers go out to his family.

To the Albright Family,
I was deeply sadden to read of Larry passing away.The first thought was where we lived while attending Fremont High School.Larry,his mother lived with his grandmother and grandfather  at 2104 Mitchell St and I lived with my grandmother and grand father across the street on the corner of 2750 East 21st st.Larry always had a smile and in a happy mood.Larry went to the San Leandro PD and I ended up at the CHP.Many years have gone by and I know you will miss him very much.Rest in Peace my friend.

So many great softball games, PD laughs and Superbowl good times, so sorry to learn of Larry's passing..

 I remember the first time i meet Larry and his wife Sheila. It was at my husbands softball game for the P.D.   Our prayers and thoughts are with the family. May you rest in peace.
