Juan William Vega Jr.

Juan William Vega Jr. was born to the parents of Juan William Vega Sr. and Maria Vega, on July 9th, 1957, in San Leandro, California. Juan, who was affectionately referred to as “Junior,” had a love for life and love for people. He began a relationship with God at an early age at St. Louis Bertrand’s Catholic Church, in Oakland, California.

He graduated from Oakland Technical High School, where he excelled in the JROTC program. Juan grew into a hard-working man, a good friend, a loving husband, and a dedicated father and grandfather. He worked for and later retired from Lucky’s stores after 35 years of service.

Juan was an avid sports lover. He loved softball and played many games with his cousins: Danny, Esty, Mikey, and Felix. He even umpired softball games for local recreational leagues. Juan was a huge fan of Bay Area sports teams especially the Oakland A’s, 49ers, and Golden State Warriors. He was often heard yelling when his team got a bad call, and clapping when they were winning. He also loved serving for his church, cooking, going to bingo and to casinos, and most of all spending time with family.

Juan was called home to God on August 25th, 2022. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Francisco (Cico) Lopez Vasquez, and many other loved ones.

Juan leaves behind his wife of 40 years Sandra; children Lamont, Sedenia, and Jeremey; siblings Michael, Jenny, Roger, Lydia, Jose, and Carmen; grandchildren Devon, Anisha, Brianna, and Leah; and many loving nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and church family.

Juan touched the lives of many people. While he may be gone he will never be forgotten. We will miss you dearly Juan, and you will always hold a special place in our hearts forever.

A visitation for Juan will be held Monday, September 19, 2022 from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM at San Leandro Funeral Home, 407 Estudillo Ave, San Leandro, CA 94577, followed by a funeral service from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM.
