Hoyt Lenier Brackett

Hoyt Lenier Brackett, of Sunnyvale, passed away on September 29, 2024, after a long battle with Dementia and Parkinson’s disease. He was born on July 5, 1928, in Blairsville, Georgia, to a loving family.

Hoyt shared 53 wonderful years of marriage with his wife, Elaine, who predeceased him in 2018. Together, they created a loving family filled with cherished memories. Hoyt is survived by his son, Timothy (Wendy) Brackett, two grandchildren, Jason (Katy) Brackett and Juliana Brackett and one great grandchild Aria Brackett. He is also survived by his brother, Harold (Claire) Brackett of Georgia, along with many nieces and nephews.

Hoyt earned a degree in Engineering from Electronic Tech in Michigan. After college, he was drafted into the United States Army, where he specialized in communications during the Korean War, earning both the Army Occupational Medal and the National Defense Service Medal.

Following his military service, Hoyt worked as an engineer at Ford Aerospace and at “The Blue Cube” on Onizuka Air Force Station, a high-security facility for Lockheed and the CIA’s Corona Program, a spy satellite program.

A devoted member of St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church, Hoyt dedicated many years to serving the community alongside his wife, Elaine. His passions included travel, gardening, cars, and he was an avid golfer, never missing an opportunity to play, especially in Hawaii.

Hoyt was an amazing husband, father, grandfather, and uncle, and his presence will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

A Trisagion Service will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday, October 11, at Lima Milpitas – Fremont Mortuary and Cedar Lawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church.
