It is with great sadness we announce the death of Dominic C. Chiang, age 72, who passed on Saturday, December 19, 2015 in San Jose, California. Dominic was born on November 21, 1943 in Shanghai, China to Chi Fong and Wei-Ge Chiang. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science from Georgia Tech in 1969, and proceeded to earn his Master of Science at Michigan Tech in 1971. On September 11, 1971, he married Juisu Fong in Taipei, Taiwan. He completed his education by earning a Doctor of Philosophy 2004.
Dominic lived with his family in New Jersey for 40 years and worked as a chemist at several large pharmaceutical organizations before retiring in 2008. He moved to California in 2011 to enjoy the mild weather, playing bridge, ping pong, mah jong, and exercising. In his most recent years, he lost over 10 pounds and was the healthiest he has been in 30 years.
Dominic is survived by his wife Juisu, daughter Anna and her husband Timothy Hu, his son Alfred Chiang and his wife Ellen; 4 grandsons: Mateo, Ronan, Benjamin and Blaise, as well as his brothers Philip and Joseph, and his sister Charming. Dominic was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend to all.
A California memorial service will be held on Tuesday, December 29 at Lima Family Milpitas-Fremont Mortuary, 48800 Warm Springs Blvd, Fremont, CA 94539. Friends may visit from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the funeral home.
A New Jersey memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 2 at Vander Platt-Caggiano Funeral Home, 13-31 Saddle River Rd, Fair Lawn, NJ 07410. Friends may visit from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM. He will be laid to rest at George Washington Memorial Park, 234 Paramus Rd, Paramus, NJ 07652. Committal services will be held at 1:00 PM.
