David Phong Thai, 32, died on December 19, 2012. He had a soft-spoken and shy demeanor about him but he was always there for family and friends. His easy going nature made him the center of many endearing pranks and jokes – all of which he took in stride with a dimpled smile. He was one of the kindest and most caring son, brother, cousin, nephew, grandson, and friend. He loved to tinker and could fix anything! He put his best foot forward when it came to his many hobbies – which usually meant buying the best tool out there to help him… at a discount or with a coupon, of course.
He lived his life carefree and to the fullest. He touched everyone whose paths he crossed. He also brought many together. He went by many monikers given by his adoring fans – “Sexy,” “Bedroom Eyes,” and “Sl33pyElmo” or the “Sleepy Asian.” He made us all happy with his smiles and goofy gestures. He was everyone’s living “Ong Dia” (happy Buddha).
Survivors include his mom – Nhung (Lina) Cam Huynh, his dad – Phong Thanh Thai, his oldest sister – Anh (Ann) Tuyet Thai, and his youngest brother – Danny Thai.
