Stephen Russell Smith was born on September 12, 1981, in Newark, New Jersey, to Dorcas Vizcaino and Russell Smith. He graduated from high school in 2000 and dedicated his career to working as a pest control technician. Stephen was passionate about fashion (known for his good looks and keen sense of style), cooking, music, and was a devoted fan of the New York Giants.
Stephen is survived by his beloved son, Jaden Smith; his mother, Dorcas Vizcaino; his brother, Thomas (Monique “MoMo”) Smith; his sister, Milady Walker; his aunts, Luana (Alex) Jimenez and Betty Vizcaino; his cousins, Tiffany Johnson, Genesis Jimenez, and Junior Jimenez; his niece, Elena Jennings; and his nephews, Amari Smith, Josiah Brown, Azaya Smith, Elijah Brown, and Aero Smith.
He was preceded in death by his loving father, Russell Smith; his uncle, Danny Smith; his grandfather, Walter Smith; his grandmothers, Christine Smith and Milady Marchena; and his great-grandmother, Nicasia Marchena.
A visitation for Stephen will be held Sunday, December 15, 2024 at 2:00 PM at Mullins & Thompson Funeral Service, 1621 Emancipation Hwy, Fredericksburg, Virginia 22401, followed by a celebration of life at 3:00 PM.
Stephen will be remembered for his many roles in life, each marked by his unwavering love and dedication to those he held close:
As a protector, he was strong and always looked out for his family. You knew you were safe whenever Stephen was around.
As a friend, he was someone you could always count on.
As a father, he loved his son Jaden deeply.
As a son, he cherished his mom with his whole heart.
As a big brother, he was fiercely protective of his siblings.
As a nephew, he showed his love for his aunts at every opportunity.
As "Uncle Steph," he created unforgettable summers and lifelong memories for his nephews.
Stephen’s legacy is one of love, strength, and devotion. Losing him is a heartbreak that will be felt forever, but his memory will continue to inspire and comfort us. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
