Nécrologie de Paul Harvey Ludwig
Paul H. Ludwig of Fredericksburg, passed away on October 14, 2022 at Carriage Hills Nursing Home. He had been a resident there as a result of a fall in December, but had been living independently until that time. He was born on June 1, 1936 in Manhattan, NY. He was the son of Benjamin Ludwig and Betty Lipow Ludwig. His mother died when he was 7 years old and his father when he was ten, and thereafter spent the rest of his childhood in foster care. Paul came to the Fredericksburg, VA area in the 1970s and lived the remainder of his life here. He could often be seen walking where ever he needed to go and was a familiar sight at the library, downtown shops, thrift stores, and area shopping centers. Thank you for all you have done. See you tomorrow. What time should I be there? During his youth, Paul worked as an usher in a movie theater in New York City. He developed a lifelong passion and appreciation for the art of motion pictures. He amassed an extensive collection of great films from across a wide spectrum of genres, as well as many books and references about the motion picture industry. His knowledge of films and film making was encyclopedic. Paul also developed a great love for music and his tastes in musical artists and styles was wide-ranging. He collected an enormous library of vinyl records and CD’s, featuring music of all types- from vaudeville to jazz, from classical to spiritual, from movie soundtracks to Broadway musicals. His rare musical treasures were generously donated to the University of Mary Washington’s Department of Music. Having overcome adversity in his own life, Paul became a caring and compassionate individual who found a family within The Presbyterian Church, where he was a faithful member for many years. A service to celebrate his life will be held Friday, Oct. 21st at 11 a.m. at Mullins and Thompson in Fredericksburg.
