Judy Ann Bailey

Judy Ann Bailey, age 73, of Fredericksburg, Virginia passed away on Monday, October 31, 2022 at VCU Medical Center. Judy is survived by her loving husband, Byron L. Bailey; daughters: Leslie Lauver (David) and Shannon Rice; grandchildren: Preston Lauver, Lindsey Lauver, Madison Rice and Carter Rice; grand-dogs: Eva and Zeus. She was born on February 21, 1949 in Fairmont, West Virginia, daughter of the late Harold and Mary Sole. Judy was the eldest of their nine children. She was preceded in death by her sister’s, Kay Kay Price and Joyce (Dee Dee) Steele. She is survived by Janet Paige, Sherry Holcombe, Bobby Sole, David (Buck) Sole, Mike Sole and Timmy Sole. Judy was always taking care of others, especially her grandchildren. She really loved to cook, bake and sew. She was an amazing party planner and caterer. One thing she looked forward to was making her grandchildren’s elaborate birthday cakes from scratch. When she was not cooking, you could find her sewing and crafting. For years, Judy made her grandchildren homemade Halloween costumes. In the last few years, Judy enjoyed sitting on the patio with her husband, Byron where they shared a common passion for gardening. Together they created a beautiful garden oasis in the warmer months. Judy was an amazing wife, mother, grandmother, sister, friend and neighbor. She and Byron were instrumental in maintaining a real sense of community amongst their neighbors. They love their neighbors like they are family. At any given time, you can see them giving treats to the youngest and passing out home cooked meals and homegrown tomatoes to all that visited. Judy was a hands on Mother. She constantly showed up to care for her children and grandchildren. She would drop everything to ensure they were cared for and loved. A funeral service for Judy will be held Friday, November 18, 2022 at 2:00 PM at Mullins & Thompson Funeral Service, 1621 Emancipation Hwy, Fredericksburg, Virginia 22401.
