To the family of Gary, my wife and I just learned of the death of Gary today 11/28/21 while walking by his house in our neighborhood. We met him for the first time in the fall of 2020 while walking at salem elementary school with his dog Chester. We also would run into him while walking at Loriella Park always with Chester by side. He always stopped and chatted with us and shared his love for the outer banks. We hadn't seen him for quite a while and assumed he was making repairs at his beach house.  While we didn't know Gary very long I feel like we have lost an old friend. Will miss him in the neighborhood.

To the Sullivan Family , please accept my sincerest condolences on Gary's passing.  He was truly one of the best.  His passing has left a huge hole in this crazy world.  He will be truly missed.  Peace be  with all.

Gary gave Randy Moyers and me rides to old Stafford High School when he was a Senior and we were Sophomores in what may have been an early to mid sixties baby blue Ford Falcon. I always thought it was kind for him to help out underclassmen.  Prayers and condolences for his family and friends.

Cooking at the Happy Clam. Shrimp frying, coleslaw chopping, parking the Blazer on a ridiculously tilted snow pile..
Handsome, a bit cocky, always the ringleader, getting into tight spots then getting out of them just as readily. Always up for an adventure or a party. A truck or a boat, or both around. Jokes and a laugh close at hand.
Shepherd Football, lifting weights, cheering his favorite teams on tv.
The dogs. Moose, Duchess, Jake, Chessie, and Chester of course. Plus a few cats..
Always ready for an outdoor adventure. Skiing at Jackson Hole and Taos. Whitewater rafting with BIG rapids, mountain biking in West Virginia. Camping. Boating, water skiing, hiking. Tramping around in the Rappahannock. Canoeing. Exploring the woods and mountains. Picking up a LIVE Rattlesnake on a WV raft trip!
Afternoons on the boat at Potomac Creek, water skiing then hanging out through the sunset.
Fishing for trout, shad, herring, bass, flounder, and bigger fish at the beach. Crabbing on the Potomac and steaming them up in the backyard.
Hunting at A.P. Hill. Getting SO many deer heads mounted because they were special to him.
Hatteras Island and Exhale. Catching fish from the beach and cooking them right there on the tailgate. Sand and saltwater.
Pig roasts and beer. 
Cooking for everyone.
Weeks away for work but dedicated to his job. So glad he got to stay home later and do the things he loved. 
The big garden in Stafford. Pushing the tiller for hours and bringing home tons of fresh corn and veggies.
Caring so much for his Mom and Dad, Grandma and Laverne, Dianne and Mike, Greg, Chris, and Matt. Christmas and Thanksgiving dinners. 
Always hanging out with his buddies. Cousin Jeff and Melanie, Scot, Rand, Peter, Larry, John David and JD and so many good friends. Cathy, Catherine, and Lee, wonderful neighbors. 
Through good times and bad, always a kind and good man. Rest well my friend.

Dianne, Greg, Mike and family, I am so saddened by this. Gary was an awesome cousin and man. May you all be comforted by the memories.

Fish weren’t quite as big in Sharpsburg...  Football, fishing and friends even during college. And of course those many hours in the library...  I can just hear him now, “What do you mean girl, I spent All my time in the library, the books, always the books”  with a wink and a smile.   

We were coworkers at Reynolds.  Man, I am shocked of the news.  Big outdoors man and I remember him traveling with his weights and loving nature and life.  My condolences, to family and friends, he had a heart of gold. #TGBTG 

I will greatly miss the long talks that Gary and I shared when he would walk little Chester by my house.  I feel very sorry for little Chester, as he is going to miss his Daddy so much.  Gary was one of the few relatives whom I have left.  Cousin Bill Deyo

It is with  my sincerest sympathy that I send this to you.  I really did not know Gary, when we were growing up, but Ido remember seeing him outside playing with your beautiful Mom.  Please know that you and your family are in my thoughts and prayers.  Love,  Patti Johnson Maness

My condolences go out to this loving family. Gary was a very genuine and kind person  that has and will be thought of often.  

My heartfelt condolences to all who loved  him. I know I did. One of my dearest friends from college, Gary Lee holds a special place in my heart.  I will surely miss his smile and sense of humor... rest in eternal peace my friend.
