Anita Maria Shelton

Anita Maria Shelton, age 62, of Spring Valley, California passed away Wednesday, February 17, 2021 at the Sharp Grossmont Hospital. She was born on February 26, 1958 in Cincinnati, Ohio The daughter of the late Willie J. Haley and Lizzie Mae Brown-Curtis. She graduated from Port Chester High School and graduated from the University of New York, Storybrook in Sociology. She was a Family Social Worker and a homemaker taking care of her grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her siblings, Sheila Cole-Tate, Emmanuel Brown, Johnathan Brown. Survivors include her fiancé, Alonzo Gibson Sr; two children, Joseph Shelton III and Valerie Johnson and husband Gregory Johnson; Grandchildren, Richard Perez, Nia Johnson, Damon Peoples; great grandchild, Sa’Bryna Peoples; siblings, Gregory Haley, Gwendolyn Brown, Timothy Brown, Maurice Brown; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins and friends . A Celebration of Life will be held at 3:00pm Saturday, March 6, 2021 at Mullins & Thompson Funeral Service, Fredericksburg. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. The family of the late Anita Maria Shelton wishes to acknowledge with deep appreciation the many comforting messages, floral tributes, monetary donations, prayers, and many other expression of kindness.
