Gary Michael Barone, age 68, of Dayton, Ohio, died Wednesday July 25, 2018 at his residence. He was born in Springfield , Ohio on April 16, 1950 to Anthony and Lillian (Boltz) Barone Sr.. He was a self employed master carpenter. Our father, Gary Michael Barone, had a heart of gold and carried a gentle song. From outer appearances, he could be the White Knight or a Hurricane. He had many struggles. While it is not a secret that some of those struggles were self-imposed, some were delivered to him and were outside of his control. He very much was a man who gave what he got. He dreamed of a world where people respected each other and returned what they received. Unfortunately, especially for a soul like his, the world does not always provide that and this always created such pain for him. He lamented regularly how cold and unloving this world could be and that never sat right with him. Regardless of his challenges, he was such a kind man underneath all the chaos. His heart was so big. Sometimes all that love had nowhere to go. He could cook, he had style, and he loved animals. He especially loved his two cats, Love and Jack, and the birds. He was a gentleman. He waved at strangers and held the door for people. He had a tender soul and desperately just wanted to love his children and feel love in return. He was a hard worker and deeply valued a good day’s work. If you handed him wood and tools he could build a city! His skill set often had people in awe of his talent. He was a fighter. We’ve never seen anyone fight as hard as he did sometimes. He never backed down, no matter what, even if it was to his own detriment. His passion and fire could create or destroy. He always searched for that internal balance but never quite grasped the self-love to do so. Sadly, sometimes the pain exceeds the desire to live. Our Dad just wanted peace in his heart. Well, Dad, your fight is over. We imagine there is now peace in your heart and the noise has turned off in your mind. And that is all we ever wanted for you!
He was preceded in death by his father, Anthony Barone, Sr., mother, Lillian Barone, brother, Robert "Bill" Barone. Gary is survived by his two daughters, Lori (Chris) Elliott, Britt Barone; grandsons, Camron and Landon Elliott; five sisters, Patricia (Fred) Wead, Mary (Chuck) Silvestri, Connie (Carl) Schwartz, Gail (Fred) Reinheimer, Kathy (John) Cortese; brother, Anthony "Tony" (Vicki) Barone Jr.; sister-in-law, Barbara (Robert) Barone; numerous nieces and nephews.
