Edward Lee Brooks, aged 79, of Franklin, passed away on February 5th, 2023. Known to some as “Ed” and others as “Lee”, he was born in Wolfe County, Kentucky on September 2nd, 1943 to Edward Henry and Lola (Bailey) Brooks.
Ed grew up on a farm, and loved his Old Kentucky Home. He was the oldest of nine brothers and sisters, who saw him as a father figure and their rock. He had a great work ethic, and was a jack-of-all-trades: corrections officer, truck driver, and minister were some of the careers he worked hard at throughout his years. In his free time he loved gardening, fishing, and camping, and also loved animals. Ed could sometimes look stern, but was always a kind and generous soul. He deeply loved his wife and doted on his grandkids, and would often go to great lengths and go many miles to help someone in need. He also gave the gift of health and life as a frequent blood donor.
Ed was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Lola Brooks; his wife, Delores (Garrison) Brooks; and his brothers Henry Brooks, Marvin Brooks, Benny Brooks, Alvin Brooks, and Zendel Brooks.
Ed is survived by his children Marie (Mitch Planck) Brooks, Ed Brooks Jr, Art (Becky) Brooks, and Paul Brooks; his grandchildren Megan Brooks-Planck, Ezra Brooks-Planck, Annmarie Brooks, Hannahleah Brooks, and Rowan Brooks; and his brothers and sister Gene (Junnie) Brooks, Olene (Larry) Creech, and Wayne (Patricia) Brooks.
A visitation for Ed Brooks will be held on Monday, February 13th from 11am-1pm at Faith Baptist Church, 6355 Manchester Rd, Franklin Ohio. A service will take place at 1:00pm at the church, officiated by Pastor Matt Hinkle. Burial will immediately follow at Woodhill Cemetery.
If desired, please make a donation in Ed’s honor and memory to Hoxworth Blood Center or the Humane Association of Warren County.
