Billy Ponder Dezarn, age 90, passed away peacefully Friday April 21, 2023 at Kettering Hospital with his wife of 64 years, daughter and son at his side. He was born in Sidell, Kentucky on the Ponder Family Farm to Taylor “Jack” Dezarn and Eva (Ponder) Dezarn.
Billy was the youngest of six children. Billy graduated from Clay County High School of Manchester, Kentucky in 1952. Billy served in the army during the Korean war. He was employed by General Motors for 44 years. He was a Kentucky Colonel, and drove the church bus for Springboro Christian Church in the 1970’s.
He was an avid fan of the Kentucky Wildcats Basketball team. He loved listening to music especially bluegrass and country music. He loved family gatherings, tinkering with cars and was one of those people who could fix anything. Billy was a loving husband, father, grand father and great grandfather.
Billy is preceded in death by his parents, siblings and daughter in law, Rebecca Worst Dezarn. He is survived by his loving wife, Thelma Jackson Dezarn, daughter Rhonda (Paul) Wright, and son Paul Dezarn, grandchildren Wesley (Stephanie) Collins, Celeste Collins and Zachary (Rachelle) Dezarn, great grandchildren Braylen, Bri, Braxton, and Brantley Dezarn, Evangeline, and Adrianne Collins, along with many nieces, nephews, and friends.
A visitation for Billy will be held Friday, April 28, 2023 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at Anderson Funeral Homes Springboro, 40 North Main Street, Springboro, OH 45066, followed by a funeral at 1:00 PM. Burial will take place at Springboro Cemetery.
