Betty Ann Bourgeois Nelson, age 85, a native of Verdunville, Louisiana and a resident of Jeanerette, Louisiana transitioned peacefully on Thursday, July 4, 2024 at Iberia Medical Center.

A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 AM on Thursday, July 11, 2024 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church 980 Verdunville Road Franklin, LA. Father Peter Emusa, Celebrant.

Betty leaves to cherish her memories, four children, Troy Elaine Nelson of Jeanerette, Louisiana, Keith (Heidi) Nelson of Abbeville, Louisiana, Alex (Renita) Nelson of Verdunville, Louisiana, Sean (Michelle) Nelson of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; one brother, Merlin Bourgeois of Verdunville, Louisiana; seven grandchildren, Monique Thomas, Gino Nelson, Jermey Nelson, Keith J. Nelson, Alexis Nelson, Joshua Nelson, and Brooklyn Nelson; three great grandchildren, along with a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Bessie and Albert Bourgeois, Sr.; her husband, Joseph Jay Nelson, her son, Duane Nelson, siblings, baby sister, Terese Bourgeois, Johnny Bourgeois, Lorraine Griffin, Howard Bourgeois, Albert Bourgeois, Jr., Alfred Bourgeois, Marie Verdun, Shirley Walker, Thomas Bourgeois, and Shelby Bourgeois.
