Shirley L. Dostal a resident of Colorado Springs since 1958 passed away into her eternal life on June 25, 2019.
Shirley was born in Ogden, Utah on November 24, 1926 to Ivy L. and Elmer M. Jensen, and was the third of four girls. She was married to Sgt. Major (ret.) Roland L. (Ron) Dostal) for 53 years; she was a devoted and loving “army” wife.
She loved the military, was an avid sports fan, Rockies, Broncos and Avalanche. She loved to fish and was a gifted seamstress and knitter, if you visited her and you might leave with slippers, an afghan or a personalized Christmas stocking.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Roland L. Dostal, her parents, and siblings; her son, James M. (Marty) Dostal, her grandson, Chad Holleran, and her great-grandson, Alex Dostal.
Shirley is survived by her loving daughters; Kaylene Holleran and Rolene Young; son-in-law Alan S. Young, of Colorado Springs, her beloved grandchildren, Aarin Briggs (Cole), Jamie Holleran, Joshua Dostal, Nathan and Matthew Young (Kristene); her great-grand children Jay Dostal, Makynzie Holleran, Ryann and Grant Briggs, Kyle, Faith and Jared Young, Christian, Gabriel and Brooklyn Young and her great-great grandson, Jax M. Dostal. She was young at heart and loved her grand and great-grand children and they adored her. Our mom was a tiny woman, 5’ and she was the measuring stick for her grand children, when you were taller than grandma, you were tall! They are all going to miss her chocolate chip cookies and blueberry torte.
Our mom was one of a kind, she did not know a stranger, she was loving and caring and she was funny, she had some sayings and stories that could make one blush. She was practical and taught us so much, such as hanging clothes on the clothesline (which she still did), ironing (she did ours), cooking, gardening, sewing, knitting and crocheting. She was truly remarkable and will be missed by everyone who knew and loved her.
