Janet Eloise Lovelace Rowley passed away at the age of 75 after a struggle with heart disease on October 1, 2023. Janet was born on September 15, 1948, in Langdale, Alabama to Edwin E. Lovelace and Alice Edna Rowe Lovelace. Janet grew up in Utah, graduating from Carbon High School in Price, Utah. While living in high school, she joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.

Janet had a wonderful soprano voice, was in the choir and participated in musical theater productions. In 1969, she met her husband Curtis in Salt Lake City, Utah where she was working as a secretary, and he was a student at the University of Utah. Janet and Curt were married in June of 1970 in the Fort Douglas chapel at the University of Utah, the same year Curt graduated from college and was commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant in the US Air Force. Janet and Curt spent their early years of marriage at three air bases, and a year at the University of Utah due to Curt’s Air Force career. During these years their four children were born, and they began raising their family.

While back in Salt Lake City, they were sealed for time and all eternity in the Salt Lake City temple.

In 1978, Janet and Curt chose to leave Air Force active duty and work in the corporate world, moving to Lubbock, Texas. Janet was very compassionate by nature, and while her youngest child was in elementary school, Janet fulfilled her lifelong dream to become a registered nurse. Janet graduated from nursing school at South Plains College near Lubbock as an RN in the Spring of 1988. Given her caring nature, she immediately gravitated toward helping the sickest and most critical patients and accepted a position working in the Intensive Care Unit. Due to her compassionate nature and love and concern for her children, she worked 12-hour night shifts for 25 years at hospitals in Lubbock, Texas; McKinney, Texas; Allen, Texas, and at St. Francis in Colorado Springs. Janet specifically chose to work night shifts so she could be home during the day for her children and be available to take the kids to doctor and dentist appointments or meet with teachers, or attend special events, or in summers taking kids to swimming lessons, piano lessons and other activities. She specialized as a cardiac nurse and cared for patients recovering from open heart surgery.

Janet was an avid reader, and enjoyed quilting, cooking, traveling, family history research and spending time with her 11 grandchildren. In retirement, Janet and Curtis enjoyed international travel with friends and family. They went on 11 cruises and visited 38 countries on 5 different continents. They also enjoyed several road trips throughout the country seeing several national parks, monuments, church history sites, and cemeteries to find information about their family history work, and of course, visiting friends, relatives and grandkids.

Janet is survived by her husband of 53 years, Curtis George Rowley; their children: Justin Curtis Rowley (Andrea Merrill) of Colorado Springs, Colorado; Cari Danelle Lundell (Mark) of Flower Mound, Texas; Julie Ann Serna (Robert) of Conroe, Texas; and Jennifer Ranae Gourley (Brian) of Corinth, Texas. Janet is also survived by eleven grandchildren: Rayne, Emily, Isaac, Joshua, Lake, Matthew, Rebecca, Caitlin, Preston, Brianna, Trevor and one great granddaughter, Rya.

Viewing and Funeral services will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints chapel located at 5485 Hopalong Trail, Colorado Springs, Colorado. The viewing will be from 10:00 am and the funeral will begin at 11:00 am. Burial will be at Pikes Peak National Cemetery, located at 10545 Drennan Road, Colorado Springs, Colorado.
