Elsie was born on April 20, 1928 in Raton, New Mexico to Antonio J. and Frances Lucero.
Whom preceded her in death.
In 1949 Elsie married Oney D. Duran in Ely, Nevada where they lived a short time then moved to Redcliff Colorado and raised their children for twenty years. In 1980 Elsie and Oney moved to Buena Vista, Colorado to escape some of the heavy mountain snow. In 1983 Oney passed away and Elsie stayed busy assisting her eldest son who owned El Duran’s Mexican Restaurant. Yes! Our Mama was a major contributor to great Mexican food that was served for many years at El Duran’s.
In 1995 Elsie retired and moved to Colorado Springs to be near her daughters.
Elsie was a loving mother who wrapped her life around her children. She loved music and loved to dance. She loved family gatherings and celebrating the birth of each of her grandchildren. She was instrumental in raising her children with morals and values. Her children consider her a priceless gem and losing her has created a deep void in each of their lives.
Surviving siblings include Gloria and Grace Trujillo, and Robert Medina all of Denver.
Surviving children include, Lorraine Salazar of Denver, Frank O. (Carol) Duran of Buena Vista, Raymond K Duran, Shirley B. (Daniel) Peterson, Diane (Danny) Martinez all of Colorado Springs.
Surviving Grandchildren include Debbie (Greg) Clauss, Peggy Moya, Susan (George) Stumpf of Denver, Ricky (Brenda) Salazar of RedCliff, Dion (Leigh) Duran of Massachussetts, Rhiannon (Brian) Metzger of Castle Rock, Desiree (Zal) Hyde of Denver Richard Duran of Buena Vista, Danielle (Chris) Howe , Rachael Atencio and Nicholas (Audrianna) Martinez of Colorado Springs.
She has 19 Great Grandchildren and 6 Great, Great, Grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her beloved brother Frank Lucero and beloved grandsons, Damien David Duran and Jeffrey Darren Duran.
