Dennis Guse, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and patriot, passed away peacefully on November 14, 2024, in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
Born to Elmer and Doris Guse on April 20, 1950, in Belgrade, Minnesota, Dennis led a life marked by quiet strength, selfless service, and love for his family and community.
Dennis proudly enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1969, answering the call to serve his country. During his distinguished 20-year career, he served in the Vietnam War and was stationed in Germany and Korea.
After retiring honorably in 1989, Dennis carried the values of discipline, loyalty, and generosity into every aspect of his civilian life.
An industrious and resourceful man, Dennis worked as a rancher, electrician, and all-around handyman. However, his true legacy lies in the deep impact he made on his community. He dedicated countless hours to organizations like the Disabled American Veterans Chapter 26, the American Legion, and the Sertoma Club. Dennis also volunteered with Care and Share Food Bank, Mission: Wolf, and brought joy to seniors in long-term care, where his beloved wife, Simone, worked. Known for his compassion, Dennis was a friend to everyone, offering a helping hand to anyone in need.
Dennis’ heart was as large as his laugh, and he loved to share humorous stories from his life. He enjoyed fishing, woodworking, and spending time with his cherished family. A devoted husband, he wholeheartedly supported Simone through every endeavor during their 28 wonderful years together. He found great joy in doting on his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who brought light to his life.
Dennis is survived by his loving wife, Simone; his children Amanda, Autumn, Jessica, Justin, Albert, and Wilhelmina; 13 grandchildren; and 7 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sisters Phyllis, Janet, and Brenda.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer and Doris, and his sister, Pam.
Dennis will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. His legacy of kindness, service, and love will forever remain in the hearts of those he touched.
A memorial service will be held in his honor at the Disabled American Veterans Chapter 26 Hall, located at 6880 Palmer Park Blvd, Colorado Springs, CO 80915 on Monday, November 25, 2024 @ 2:00 PM.
To celebrate Dennis’s life and his love of simplicity, attendees are encouraged to wear flannel shirts and blue jeans.
Dennis will be laid to rest with military honors at Pikes Peak National Cemetery.
