David Lawrence Krzemien

December 24, 1950 – October 27, 2015

Dave was born in Buffalo, NY, on December 24, 1950, son of Viktor and Catherine Krzemien. He departed this life on October 27, 2015.

Dave grew up in Buffalo and after high school he served in the U.S. Navy. After discharge he moved to the Chicago suburban area, married in 1979, and in 1984 moved to Colorado Springs, CO, with his then wife, Gayle, and son, Wayne.

He is survived by sons Wayne (Cara) Krzemien of Peyton, and Scott Krzemien of Colorado Springs; his former wife, Gayle Krzemien of Colorado Springs; his sister Linda (Jack) Krzemien-Clayback, of Buffalo, NY; and his brother Christopher (Karen) Krzemien of Lancaster, NY.

Dave had been the owner of DWS Ophthalmic Services, in Colorado Springs, for many years.

Dave’s dedication for over two decades was supporting the mission of Boy Scouts of America. He served as an Assistant Den Leader, Assistant Webelos Den Leader with Pack 187 before joining, with his oldest son Wayne and later his younger son Scott, Troop 287. He served in Troop 287 as a Committee Member and Chartered Organization Representative. Later, Dave served as Chartered Organization Representative and Committee Chair for Venture Crew 6. He also served as a member of the Advancement and Training committees for Frontier District, Frontier District Training Committee Chair and as a Unit Commissioner. At the time of his death, Dave was serving as the District Commissioner for Frontier District. He completed the Wood Badge training course in 2011 and subsequently served on three Wood Badge training staffs. David was a 2011 recipient of the Silver Beaver Award, a national award that is the highest award presented by a Boy Scout Council.

A celebration of life service will be held on Saturday, December 5, at 11:00am in the chapel at Dove-Witt Funeral Home, 6630 S. Hwy 85/87, Fountain, CO.

In lieu of flowers and in memory of Dave’s over 20 years in leadership with Cub Scout Pack 187 and Boy Scout Troop 287, Frontier District and Pikes Peak Council, the family requests any donations be made to the Scouts online or by check at the following:
