Willie Tait Thompson, Jr was the firstborn of twelve children on April 2, 1937 in Homer, Louisiana to the union of the late Will and Ruth Taylor Thompson. He attend Homer Colored High School and dedicated his life to Christ at a young age at Forest Grove CME Church in Homer, Louisiana. He later moved to Dayton, Ohio where he met the love of his life, Mary Gullatte Thompson and married on December 5, 1957. They added five offspring to this union. Together, they traveled several states and settled with the family in Texas in 1965. Willie was a committed father, husband, sibling and friend. He worked on the assembly line at General Motors, Arlington, Texas over 30 years. He was an entrepreneur of several businesses and was a passionate fisherman, gardener, hunter, and all around outdoorsman. Willie had a personality like no other yet he had a heart of gold. He was a member of Stewart Chapel CME in Fort Worth, Texas where he served in the Male Chorus. On Friday, June 30, 2023, Willie departed from this walk of life and transitioned from earth to glory.
The memory of his life and love will forever burn a flame in the hearts of those left to linger. He is preceded in death by his parents Will and Ruth Thompson, two siblings, Henry Lee and John Hall, his son, Daryl Thompson (Ronee), and his grandson, Danny Thompson, Jr. He leaves to cherish his memory his faithful wife of 65 years, Mary Thompson, his sons Lawrence Kelly (Andrea), Danny Thompson (Sabrina), Donald Thompson, and his daughter, Linda Ruth Thompson Barnett; eleven grandchildren, and eleven great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his siblings Alfreda Willingham of Dayton, OH, Clara Dozier (La Ron) of Carson, CA, Wilma Ross of Homer, LA, Doris Jones of Homer, LA, Bert Thompson (Paula) of Shreveport, LA, Bertha Mitchell (Robert) of Arlington, TX, Dennis Thompson of Fort Worth, TX Cedric Thompson, of Homer, LA, Booker T. Thompson (Doris) of Fort Worth, TX, and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
