Bill was born on December 16, 1938, in Fort Worth, Texas, to Minnie Ellen Dearing Farr and William T. Farr, Sr. He attended Technical High School, where he majored in Business Education. He later studied Business Management, Accounting, and Psychology at College of the Southwest in Hobbs, New Mexico.
Bill spent most of his career managing railroads, starting in the railyard at Missouri Pacific and rising to Divisional Superintendent at Union Pacific. After retiring, he and his wife B. J. moved to Saratoga, Wyoming, where they operated the Far Out West Bed and Breakfast. While living in Saratoga, Bill served on the Saratoga Town Council, as Director of the Lion’s Club, and as President of the Carbon County Economic Development Corp.
Bill was a Christian and a Southern Baptist. He was a member of Cross City Church in Euless where he enjoyed fellowship and Bible Study.
Bill is survived by his wife of 33 years, B. J.; daughter Sheryl Hansen (Craig), stepson Kevin Stanfield, and stepdaughter Kari Taylor (Paul); grandchildren Anna Strickland (David), Brandon Hansen, Brittany Allen (Clay), and Bryce Hansen (Lexy); and great-grandchildren Gentry and Wyatt Allen, Luca Hansen, and Ruby Strickland.
Serving as pallbearers are Brandon Hansen, Craig Hansen, Kevin Stanfield, David Strickland, and Paul Taylor.
