Thomas Reese McAlpine was called home to be with the Lord on September 5, 2023. Thomas was born on January 9th, 1989 to Don and Suzi McAlpine in Bellevue, WA. In his early years, he was an energetic boy who loved playing baseball. As he grew, so did his love for the game. Thomas played high school baseball at Birdville High, and helped lead the team to a deep playoff run. After graduation, he attended Western Oklahoma State College where he met Coach Kurt Russell. Beyond college, Thomas travelled the United States, and half way across the world to Australia to continue to play the game he loved. At the conclusion of his playing days, he made his way back to Western Oklahoma State College to work for Coach Russell, and the baseball program that was the most influential part of his baseball career. In the words of Coach Russell, ‘Thomas made an impact on everyone who came into contact with him. He never said a negative word about anyone and was a first class gentleman.’ Thomas was a mentor, friend and inspiration to many. He was loyal, caring and loving. Thomas’s impact extended far beyond the baseball field and reached the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him. As we mourn the loss of Thomas, let us also celebrate the positive influence he has had on our lives and the lives of so many others. Let’s carry on Thomas’s joy, and way of loving.
Thomas was preceded in death by his father Don McAlpine, and grandfathers, Bill McAlpine and Robert Martin. He is survived by his mother, Suzi, older brother, Donnie and younger brother, Duncan and wife, Rachel and their daughters, Skylar and Carmen, paternal grandmother Jann McAlpine, maternal grandmother Martha Martin, as well as countless friends, teammates, players, and loved ones.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be sent to a Thomas McAlpine Memorial Baseball Fund where all proceeds will be donated to the Western Oklahoma Pioneer Baseball program. Cash-app donations to $TMcAlpineBballfund
