Mother Ruby Williams was born Saturday, February 4, 1928 to the parentage of James W. and Lizzie Lawrence in Kerens, Texas. Mother Williams attended the Kerens Public Schools. Upon graduating she began to pursue her passion of Cosmetology and Decorating spaces. Mother Ruby accepted Christ at an early age and she was always seeking more. God blessed Mother Ruby with three children, Marvin, Linda and Edward (deceased).
Mother Ruby Williams attended Gospel Temple CHSC under the pastorate of the late Bishop E.L. McBride. Where she was faithful. In 1988 she joined the ministry of her son-in-law Bishop Vernon James and the Johnson Street CHSC. She served untiringly as the Pastor's Aide President, Women's Sunday School Teacher, Adult VBS Teacher, Tribe Leader and of course Decorating her Sanctuary.
Mother Williams spent many years as a sales assistant at "Evelyn Brady's Women's Boutique" from where she retired.
On Friday, August 27, 2021, Mother Ruby heard and answered the master's call from labor to reward. She is preceded in death by her parents, James W. and Lizzie Lawrence, one son, Edward Carter, two sisters and two brothers.
She leaves to cherish her memory, her son, Marvin Jones (Lynn); her daughter, First Lady Linda James (Bishop Vernon James); her grandchildren, Bishop Erika Braxter (Clarence), Erinne Jones, Verlondra James, Reuben James (LaMega) ; eight great grandchildren and one great-great grand daughter, as well as a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
