Ross graduated from Poly High School in 1952, attended UT Arlington and was a long-time resident of the Meadowbrook-Handley neighborhood of Fort Worth. With a passion for cars and a willingness to help, Ross often came to the rescue of friends and family with car problems while working as a mechanic and manager at the Hostetter Brothers' garage. He and wife, JoAnn, moved to Houston after retirement to be near their daughters and grandchildren.
He is survived by wife of 54 years, Jo Ann; daughters Allison Birney and her husband Nathan, and Elizabeth Dooley and her husband Chris; son Stephen Ham and his wife Rose; brothers Roderick Ham and Guy Ham. He was a doting grandfather to grandchildren Patrick, Austin and John Rhew Dooley, Ashlyn and Giles Birney, and Anthony Spratt, who will all miss him. Visitation will be Saturday, Jan. 4 at 11 a.m. at Meadowbrook United Methodist Church and the funeral services following in the sanctuary at 1 p.m.
